Unconnected

I have been without my own internet connection for a week.
This has been a bleeding imbuggerance.
At first I thought the internet had gone down because of the appalling weather conditions last Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday morning I checked and still no connection.

I spent most of last Wednesday morning trying to sort out the issues myself.
I unplugged the whole thing. Left it unplugged for a while.
Went back, plugged it all back in...pressed the re-start button and for about 30 seconds I got blue lights....meaning it was working.
Then they all went out and I just had a flashing power on button.
I did all the unplugging again....left it unplugged for a longer time....then plugged back in again.
Pressed the restart....nothing....pressed the reset to default thingy(this takes a biro to go into the little hole)....still nothing.
I felt very frustrated and at the end of my expertise to sort it out.

This meant I would have to contact my ISP.
This did not fill me with a warm fuzzy feeling.
I opted for internet chat....and you are asking 'how'?
Well, easy....went over and used daughter's connection.
I felt this would be easier than trying to talk to someone with a broad Asian accent....trying to juggle the phone while going through all the things I had already tried.

I spent an hour on the internet explaining my issues.
Halfway through I was handed over to another advisor....
So this meant I had to go through all the details again.

It was decided that the hub was past its sell by date( ten years old) and that this would solve my problem.

I asked how long it would be before it delivered....3-5 working days.
I sort of hoped the thing would be delivered Friday or Saturday....but no.
Did not arrive yesterday either.
So over to the daughters I went.
The darn thing had not even been dispatched.
I put in a very strong complaint....and asked if they would be giving me a rebate on my service...as if I had to wait another three to five days I would have been without the service for ten days.

Anyway, this action must have caused a bit of a flurry because this morning the postie delivered a brand new hub....which is why I can tell you all about it.

What I had not considered about being without a wi-fi connection is that my printer would not work.

So I have not been able to print out the verses for some cards I had made for birthdays....I had to stamp sentiments inside....a bit less personal than a specially written verse.

It is really good to be back.

I had the same rubbish with mine a couple of week back i spoke to what i can only describe as the village idiot, who repeatedly asked things he had already asked a few mins prior. he then told me i would need a new router, i said this is only about 18 months old, still i got the 3-5 days jargon, anyway it did come in that time frame so i changed it, and things are still no better:eek: he said if its not done the trick, ring back and we will send someone to check the connection to the house, i have NOT done this yet as i aint up to listening to another of these cretins. what happens with mine is if i leave the computer for about 10 mins or so, then on my return it tells me,not responding and i can do sod all only restart my my computer, which i find a damn nuisance, when i'm in the mood i will ring these idiots back.

Cashy...I checked online at Nicola's to see if there were any line faults and to check on the internet too.
I did not actually speak to someone it was a 'Live' online chat.
I find this easier...but I knew I had tried all the tricks that should have put it right.
My hub was in the region of ten years old...so a bit of an antique in tech terms.
