vs QPR

"But as bad as last Saturday was, Tuesday was even worse as Loftus Road welcomed League Two outfit Accrington Stanley for the Second Round of the Carling Cup. Prior to the game, I thought we all expected a backlash from the Forest game and many expected the Super Hoops to put four or five past then team from Lancashire, but how wrong were we?

Stanley came and at times played us off the park. You wouldn't have known which team was from the Championship and which was from League Two. In truth they deserved to be going into the hat for the next round but as we've seen ourselves already this season, you don't always get what you deserve"

"Q: What were your thoughts on the midweek victory over Accrington Stanley?

A: They out-played us totally in the first half, we picked up second half, we had to because we could not have been much worse.

I will stand and defend my players without a shadow of a doubt but that first half you just cannot defend, you simply cannot defend it. It was not good enough.

It was not good enough for us, the standards we set, and especially the standards the players set. I will defend them when it is right to defend them but you cannot defend that."
