The picture was taken 44years ago.....April 1967.
We were off on a tour of the bulbfields.....this was one of the prizes for winning the personality competition...what used to be called The Cotton Queen.
We were chauffer driven to Manchester Airport and flew to Holland on a Turbo Prop plane.......I had never flown before, but had always wanted to.
I can remember that while I was at school there used to be a flight over the town on Ascension day....it was something like 25 shillings to go and Ma could never afford it.
I used to look up in the sky to see the planes fly over and try to imagine what my schoolfriends could see. I was desperately envious.
So this trip to Holland was exciting purely because of the flights.
The local paper who sponsored the competition, had also engaged the service of a professional photographer to follow us around while we were in Holland.
It was a really memorable experience.
As you know from my past blogs, we got married on a shoestring and couldn't afford a honey moon as such.......this was a belated honeymoon.
