Here is a Riddle, it is very easy! At least so I think!

This thing all things devours,
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers,
Gnaws iron, bites steel,
Grinds hard stones to meal,
slays kings and ruins towns,
and beats high moutain down

Well any asnswers?

So here is a clue. It is a riddle from a Tolkien book, but NOT The Lord of the Rings!
