Write it down.

I think that I have been fairly kind to my grey cells over the years.
I have fed them good and nourishing food........given them varying degrees of exercise....slept well to give them time to rest ....OK, OK, I may have inadvertently killed off a few million with an odd drunken bout, but that was way way in the dark and distant past........so why do I find them playing silly burgers sometimes.
I always though I had a brilliant memory. I can close my eyes sometimes and be back in a classroom at school......and remember most of the names of the people who were there with me.
Lately however, I have wanted to remember the name of a place and it it has been tantalisingly hovering inside my head like a butterfly. Yet when I go to grab the information.....it melts like morning mist...but faster.
The reason I am writing about this was the other day when I was going on about my Gran, I was trying to remember the name of the pub just across the street from where she lived.
For some reason I thought the name began with an M........and the more I thought about it the harder it was to pull the information from my cluttered memory.
I went up to see Mutti yesterday and felt sure that she would know.....and put me out of my misery. She didn't....and couldn't remember the name of the publican either. What is more, because I had posed this question, it had got her old grey cells sparking too.
We had a good old natter about the places that I could remember and I came home no wiser.

I decided that it really wasn't very important and there were no prizes at stake. So I put the question out of my mind.
This morning I woke up and it was a 'Eureka' moment......I had not only remembered the name of the pub, but that of the publican and their big fat ginger cat. The pub was called 'The Dennison'....the publicans were R.S.M Jeffreys and his good lady wife(he looked like a regimental sargeant major) and the cat was called Dooley.
Do you think that while I was asleep my brain kind of defragged itself?

So if you think there is something you will want to remember when you are old and grey..........write it down, but don't forget where you wrote it!

Lol!!!! My problem is that I do write things down then immediately lose the paper I've written it on. I'd put stuff on the computer but there may come a day when I forget how to use the darned thing.
