A joke told by David Jason on Absolute Radio has been deemed unacceptable by a spokesman for the station. No complaints were received but the spokesman said:
"We consider the views of our listeners to be very important and have received no complaints about these comments.
"We will continue to monitor any complaints and Christian O'Connell will issue an on-air apology in tomorrow's breakfast show."
How can they monitor complaints they haven't received?

The joke:

What do you call a Pakistani cloakroom attendant?

Mahatma Coat.

Is it unacceptable, is it offensive? I don't think so, have a read here:BBC NEWS | Entertainment | Jason 'sorry' for Pakistani joke

not unacceptable at all n obviously not just in my opinion, even the whingers aint complained, an apology fer nowt is stupid.

It is that offensive the BBC website printed the quote themselves. I hope they will be apologising for that as well.

How stupid are things getting?

I wonder if it would have been unacceptable if he'd mentioned the Scottish cloakroom attendant, Angus McCoatup?

I know loads of jokes like that.........like the Pakistani joiner, Ahmed Ashed. :D

It's just a joke. :tongueout

Yeh but the complaints are not from Black ethnic minority, most are from the white do gooders who think its rasict. You can not do or say anything without the do gooders complaining and being politcial correctness

Why?

Do jokes like that offend you?

good lord know..... I have a few to add but best not on here....I mean people having to say sorry and really really really think before they say anything these days....
