Read the signs.

Today I have had a ride out to Nelson.
Not a place I particularly wanted to go to, although I'm sure that on a good day it could be a pleasant place to visit.
I went to Nelson because the old feller who my hubby shopped for.....who was in Blackburn hospital for the last two weeks, was moved there last night.
Hubby has been visiting him to give him contact with the outside world...and also with his elderly wife......who is currently in a residential home.

The hospital phoned last night and said they were moving him to Nelson......so hubby didn't visit last night...but today he wanted to go and find out where Pendle Community Hospital was.
I could tell that hubby was stressed by this move.....he isn't keen on driving to places he hasn't been to before:rolleyes:.
So I was drafted along as the co-pilot so to speak. Goodness me, you would think we were going half way across the country, not some 11 miles up the road.
I have never been to Nelson before.....well, not to my knowledge......but I told him it was just a bit of a drive up the M65.
I asked my sister in law for the directions last night and hubby was there too so he listened, but do you think he took any of it in.
Of course he didn't. Those flaps on the side of his head are only to stop him from going blind - they keep his cap out of his eyes and his glasses on his face.
We got into the car and drove along the motorway...past Burnley, and into cowboy country.....he was asking me 'Is this the right turn off?'
'No, it's the next one' I said.
We drove towards the centre of Nelson, and I spotted a sign the said 'Pendle Community hospital' so I pointed this out to hubby.
Who got ever so slightly irate and said....'don't just wave your arms around, tell me which way it is'
'didn't you see the direction on the sign?' I asked
'No, I'm driving...not reading the signs'

I was more tha a little P'd off...because if it had been me driving and saying that, he would have been telling me in no uncertain terms that part of being able to drive is reading the road signs.
So I asked him if he couldn't drive and read the signs as well......I'm not going to tell you what he said to that.

Anyway we found it in the end....quite easily and without any more drama...but there was nowhere to park.
We Ended up parking on the Swimming pool car park......which is a bit risky, could have got a £50 fine, but he was only gone for five minutes and I stayed in the car.
We drove back down the motorway to home and he was singing like it hadn't been anything of a problem at all...which to me it wasn't.
Anybody know where I can get him some chill pills?

Sounds like a do as I say not as I do regards the road signs. Glad you found it ok, seems to be that is where the oldies from round here are being sent.

LMAO at the Ears thing Margaret!! :D Man syndrome :D

And they call us women for flapping, least we flap over things worth Flapping about

you should have asked me, i would have told you where it was.. parking is free in nelson but you need a parking disc and everyone else parks at the old kwik save which is across from wavelengths......lovely place nelson lmao
